C section recovery at its finest. A much different recovery than a vaginal birth but in some ways it’s been easier! For one, my vagina doesn’t hurt 🙌 And there is a lot less bleeding going on (now) than there was one week after delivering vaginally.
.
Anyway, once I was in post partum and recovery, the nurse would press on my stomach to make sure my uterus wasn’t going to push out any heavy bleed (that wasn’t fun) and then they would monitor how much I peed and bled daily. Aside from that, at the hospital, I was on antibiotics for the fever I developed because I had hemorrhaged and on Ephedrine because of my low blood pressure. I was also given Motrin and Tylenol every 6 hours and we cannot forget the stool softener!! (Do not pass on that!).
.
I laid in bed for a day with a catheter since I couldn’t stand up for 24 hours and leg compressors to help with my swollen legs and feet and to promote blood flow. Despite all the drugs and antibiotics I was on (because I got a fever after I hemorrhaged) Eriela was still able to breastfeed so I was happy.
.
Once I got home I continued with my Motrin and stool softeners. Both prescriptions from my doctor. Thankfully the bleeding has gone down! And my stitches externally are actually glue! I clean that are with soap and water in the shower and then make sure it’s really dry the rest of the day.
.
I have been wearing the PP diapers. I check my stitches regularly to make sure theyre not infected and keep them dry. I can shower, just no baths yet. I try not to go up and down the stairs much so my life is mainly downstairs and so is the baby’s (which is why I set up so much stuff downstairs). I’m not supposed to drive for two weeks (but I might after one will see, dont judge me!). Drinking a lot of liquids and walking to help blood flow. Truthfully walking feels better than sitting. The most painful thing has been coughing and getting up and down from the couch.
.
Aside from driving or lifting anything aside from the baby, I feel pretty strong and able to care for her!
.
I know there are a lot of scary post c section stories so I wanted to share mine since it’s really been much better than I anticipated!! 🙏”
