”I am not an anxious Mom.⠀
⠀
I am a mom with anxiety.⠀
⠀
If we reframe it, if we separate the anxiety from us, while acknowledging we are experiencing it. It can help us not to judge and be hard on ourselves ourselves, rather we can give ourselves grace while noticing this painful experience.⠀
⠀
See, when we call ourselves “the anxious mom,” we are identifying these traits as our character.⠀
⠀
I believe there is more to us than our anxieties, even when it feels all consuming sometimes. It’s just something we are experiencing.⠀
⠀
I experienced a lot of anxiety throughout my life, even before having a baby. Postpartum it became intensified. It feels like there is more on the line (there is 👶) and I find myself filled with worries. There’s a lot to worry about, even when I “shouldn’t.”⠀
⠀
Sometimes I catch myself tempted to make decisions out of fear, control and perfectionism, when my goal is to make decisions out of interests, preferences, values, love and faith.⠀
⠀
I am working to overcome these worries, fears and anxieties. I aim to have a more realistic, balanced, hopeful, grace and faith-filled outlook.⠀
⠀
Until then, I am reminding myself – ⠀
⠀
I am not an anxious Mom.⠀
⠀
I am a Mom with anxiety.”
